Hole in the Wall displayed work by Megan Broadmeadow for its final exhibition.

Broadmeadow is fascinated by overlooked and seemingly unloved objects, particularly those which are characteristic of a place in which she is working. Inspired by the two garage doors on either side of the Hole in the Wall, Broadmeadow created a miniature garage door to fit into the box, complete with graffiti, old ripped posters, and bin bags and boxes of fly-tipped rubbish.

The artist intended to instill curiosity in the viewer as to what is behind the garage door and lead people to imagine that there is whole miniature alternative reality existing in the street.

Broadmeadow's garage door mirrored similar doors seen in the surrounding area and, because she made it look aged and as if it had always been there ,it blended well into the location, creating a subtle, yet fantastical and humorous, installation.

Broadmeadow's work was on display in the Hole in the Wall from the 29th May - 5th June 2009. Please click on Artists' Profiles for more information about her practice and links to her website.
